- Arbitrage
- betting on all possible outcomes of an event across different sportsbooks to secure a profit no matter the result.
- Bankroll
- the money you set aside for betting, kept separate from your daily expenses.
- Bet Builder
- a tool that lets you combine different outcomes from the same match into one bet.
- Cash Out
- an option to settle your bet before the match ends, letting you lock in a profit or cut your loss.
- Fade
- betting against a popular pick or a well-known bettor, expecting the line to be overvalued.
- Futures Bet
- a bet on the outcome of a tournament or award, placed weeks or months ahead.
- Hedge
- placing a bet on the opposite side of an existing bet to reduce risk or guarantee a profit.
- Juice
- the commission the sportsbook takes on a bet, usually included in the odds.
- Line Movement
- the change in odds or point spread over time as more bets are placed.
- Live Betting
- placing a bet on a match while it is happening, with odds that change as the game progresses.
- Moneyline
- a bet on which team will win the match, with odds shown as a plus or minus number.
- Odds
- the number that shows how likely an outcome is and how much you can win relative to your stake.
- Over/Under
- a bet on whether the total points scored in a match will be higher or lower than a number set by the sportsbook.
- Parlay
- a single bet that combines two or more selections; all of them must win for you to receive a payout.
- Pleaser
- the opposite of a teaser, moving the line against you for a chance at a higher payout.
- Point Spread
- a handicap number set by the sportsbook; the favorite must win by more than the spread, and the underdog must lose by less than the spread for the bet to win.
- Prop Bet
- a wager on a specific event inside the match, such as which player scores first.
- Public Money
- the amount of bets placed by casual bettors, which can push the line toward one side.
- Push
- a tie in a bet where the result matches the line exactly, resulting in no loss or win and the stake being returned.
- Round Robin
- a set of smaller parlays created from a list of teams you choose.
- Stake
- the amount of money you risk on a single bet.
- Steam
- rapid movement of the betting line, often because a lot of money is being placed on one side.
- Unit
- a standard amount, usually a small percentage of your bankroll, used to size your bets consistently.
- Value Bet
- a wager where the odds offered are higher than the true chance of the outcome, giving you an edge.
